Ottawa's International Datacasting Corporationt has received an order for 400 DVB-S2 receivers from Access Integrated Technologies, Inc. (AccessIT) (NASDAQ:AIXD), a leading provider of digital cinema software and services.
In conjunction with the Christie/AIX turnkey digital cinema deployment, AccessIT will be providing satellite receivers to locations across the United States and Canada enabling simultaneous broadcast delivery of feature films, advertisements, and alternative content to theatres, the company announced.
DVB-S2 is the latest breakthrough in broadband satellite technology providing higher orders of modulation and forward error correction-offering a choice of bandwidth savings or higher speed delivery in the order of 30-40% over previous levels. The SRA3100 can be used for both file-based content and live events.
B. Scott Cassell, Chief Technology Officer of AccessIT's Digital Media Services Division commented, "We selected IDC's receivers after rigorous testing. The ability to support industrial strength encryption and conditional access while meeting the demanding throughput and performance requirements was key. We have very been pleased with the performance of the product and the level of support we have received from IDC."
IDC President and CEO Ron Clifton commented, "This is a great project for us. Digital cinema is an exciting market, ideally-suited to satellite delivery. Ultra-reliable and secure distribution of broadband content-streams and files-is where we excel. We are pleased to be part of this innovative product offering and look forward to supporting AccessIT as it grows and expands."
